Datasets of bushfire locations extracted from 19th century newspaper articles and serialised fiction. 

1. processed_output_bushfire_dataset.csv

This file contains all locations extracted from 42,000 newspaper articles that indicate a historical bushfire pubished between 1850-1900 in Australian newspapers. Ambiguous locations and placenames that could not be geolocated have been removed.

2. complete_output_bushfire_dataset.csv

This file contains all locations extracted from initial 110,000 newspaper articles that indicate a historical bushfire pubished between 1850-1900 in Australian newspapers inclusive of Ambiguous locations and locations that could not be geolocated. 

3. complete_output_bushfire_literature_dataset.csv

This file contains all geographic locations, inclusive of Ambiguous locations and locations that could not be geolocated from serialised fiction featuring the terminology "bushfire" published between 1850-1900 harvested from the "To Be Continued" database. Additional metadata including the narrative signficance of the bushfire is included in the dataset.
