Family GLIRIDAE

(DORMICE)

• Smallto medium-sized rodents, often characterized by periods of dormancy, with soft fur, large eyes, short curved Class, moderately long non-prehensile bushy tail but scantily haired in certain species.

• 10-35 cm.

• Palearctic and Afrotropical Regions.

• Temperate and tropical forests, savannas, steppes, and deserts.

• 9 genera, 29 species, 29 taxa.

• 2 species Vulnerable; none Extinct since 1600.
