Family DASYURIDAE

(CARNIVOROUS MARSUPIALS)

• Smallto medium-sized carnivorous marsupials with small lower incisors and bushy, carrotshaped, or gradually tapered tails, slightly shorter or longer than headbody length.

• 10-130 cm.

• Australasian Region.

• Semi-arid to arid deserts and xeric shrublands; grasslands and savannas; open and closed forests and woodlands; swamps; temperate to tropical rainforests.

• 17 genera, 74 species, 99 extanttaxa.

• | species Critically Endangered, 5 species Endangered, 5 species Vulnerable; no species Extinct since 1600.
