SYNTHETIC INVESTIGATIONS IN DICYCLOHEXANE DERIVATIVES, PART II

Ethyl 1-cyano cyclohexylcyanoacetate on condensation with ethyl \(\delta\)-bromovalerate, followed by hydrolysis and esterification furnishes ethyl α-(1-carbetlioxy-cycloheyl)pimelate which on Dieckmann condensation, hydrolysis and eterification yields 2-keto-1-carbethoxydicyclohexane. 1-(1%Carbory­cycleboxyl)-2-earboxy-Δ¹-cyclohexene is obtained through the eyanohydrin of the above keto-ester.
