Taxonomy. Georychus bocager de Winton, 1897,
Hanha, western Angola.
This species is monotypic.
Distribution. C & S Angola and N Namibia (Ovamboland); no confirmed records, but it may be present in extreme S DR Congo, and W Zambia.
Descriptive notes. Head-body 141-166 mm (males) and 150-165 mm (females), tail 7-12 mm (males) and 6-15 mm (females). No specific data are available for body weight. Bocage’s Mole-rat is medium-sized, with gray to cinnamon dorsal pelage; white head spot variesin size. Limbs are short, feet are pink, tail is short, and vibrissae occur on tail and feet. Chromosomal complementis 2n = 58, FN = 98.
Habitat. Mesic areas with mean minimum annual rainfall of 819-8-860-4 mm.
