Description

The workshop on hydro-climate extremes, detection, and attribution was held on October 7, 8, 11, 12, and 13, 2021. at the University of Novi Sad Faculty of Sciences, Novi Sad, Serbia, as an activity on the ExtremeClimTwin project.

The second workshop was focused on Climate time series analysis, Climate extremes in global and regional climate models, downscaling techniques, and physical drivers of extremes. The aim of this events is to equip ESRs with skills to tackle the emerging climate issues.

The first day was dedicated to the introductory course of Statistical downscaling and generation of climate extremes delivered by Prof. Robert Wilby.

The lecture by Dr. Anne Sophie Daloz on the second day was titled “Downscaling models and their use in the context of extremes”.

On the third day of the workshop Dr. Carley Iles introduced the participants to Extreme Event Attribution.

The fourth day of the ESRs Workshop 2 was devoted to “Physical drivers of extreme heat” by Tom Matthews.

Dr. Manfred Mudelsee gave the talk on “Climate Time Series Analysis, with special emphasis on climate extremes” on the fifth day. This was a course developed and specifically tailored to the needs of PhD students who wish to learn about an important combination of disciplines.
