La implementación de las Áreas Naturales Protegidas entre dos tradiciones enfrentadas

RESUMEN:  Analizamos la incorporación en la ecología del siglo XX del concepto de Área Natural Protegida (ANP), actualmente utilizada como herramienta tecnológica en el Manejo de Recursos Naturales. Encontramos un fuerte vínculo entre la idea de proteger un área natural y el surgimiento del movimiento conservacionista, que proclamaba la necesidad de desarrollar una ética ambiental, posiblemente desde la tradición romántica. Por otro lado, la ecología incorporó al conservacionismo en un marco netamente mecanicista. El movimiento conservacionista propuso la incorporación de las ANP como herramienta frente a la problemática ambiental. Es así como un movimiento surgido a partir de la tradición romántica, pero valiéndose de un marco mecanicista, postuló la utilización de tecnologías con fines conservacionistas. La implementación de las ANP supuso la participación de dos tradiciones enfrentadas, abriendo la necesidad de reflexión respecto del uso de elementos provenientes de dos tradiciones, romántica y mecánica, abandonando posturas extremas. THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PROTECTED NATURAL AREAS BETWEEN TWO OPPOSED TRADITIONS

Abstract: We analyzed the incorporation in the ecology of century XX of the concept of Protected Natural Area (ANP), at the moment used as technological tool in the Natural Resources Management. We found a strong connection between the idea to protect a natural area and the rise of the conservation movement, which proclaimed the necessity to develop an environmental ethics, likely after the romantic tradition. On the other hand, the ecology incorporated to the conservacionism in a net mechanist frame. The conservation movement proposed the incorporation of the ANP as a tool for the environmental issues. Therefore, a movement arisen from the romantic tradition, but using itself a mechanist frame, postulated the use of technologies with conservation aims. The implementation of ANP supposed the participation of two opposed traditions, opening the necessity of reflection respect to the use of elements from two traditions, romantic and mechanical, abandoning extreme positions.
