A STUDY OF THE HYDRATED COPPER SALTS OF BF3O2-, BeF42- AND SO42- IONS AT DIFFERENT TEMPERATURES

Description

The powder photography of CuBF3O.5H2O has shown that it is not isomorphous with CuSO4.5H2O: while CuBeF4.5H2O is isomorphous with CuSO4.5H2O. All these three compounds, however, form mixed crystals. These three compounds were heated to 250°. The loss in weight of CuSF3O.5H2O suggests the formation of CuO. This has been verified by X-ray as well as by chemical analysis. CuBeF4.5HO at 250° affords a mixture of CuF2, BeF2 and traces of BeO. No anhydrous compound, such as CuBF3O or CuBeF4 has been obtained.
