Synthesis of 5,6,8,3',4'-Pentamethoxyflavone

The pentamethoxyflavone (II) has been synthesised by subjecting 5-hyrdroxy-6,3',4'-trimethoxyflavone (VII) to hydroxylation with alkaline persulphate and subsequent methylation; it has been recently reported to occur in the orange peel and named sinensetin.
