Solvent Effect on Infrared Spectra
Authors/Creators
Description
Infrared spectra, both fundamental and overtones of N-H band, of aniline, methylaniline, diphenyklamine, and indole have been studied in structurally different solvents. The validity of the K.B.M. equation has been tested in the case of indole, using the binary solvent CS2 - bexanen. The observed shifts, both blue and red, are explained in terms of intermolecular hydrogen bonding and localized electrostatic interaction! which are related with the polarisability of the solvent moloculea.
