Syntypes 2 ♀♀; 3; 2 unsexed imagines still within host remains, Madagascar, Mandraka (MNHN).
Labels. Elev. Du 21. 2. 52. No. 1008. Eclos le 25. 2. 52 / Inst. Scient. Madagascar / Parasites de cochenilles sur Philippia/ La Mandraka CA.; Allotropa / pauliani / Risbec [syntypes 2 ♀♀; 3; 2 unsexed imagines still within host remains].
Remarks. All five syntypes are dry-mounted on a microscope slide, two have their heads broken off and one of the imagines still within the host remains is broken. Vlug (1995) emended the spelling to ‘ pauliana ’ apparently in the mistaken belief that this was the original spelling. Whatever Vlug’s intention, according to the Code this is clearly a “demonstrably intentional” change because Vlug cited both the original spelling, the changed spelling and adopted the latter in place of the former. A. pauliana is an unjustified emendation and becomes a junior objective synonym (ICZN 1999: Art. 33.2.1).
