Reactions with Organophosphorus Compounds. X. Organophosphorus Derivatives of Thioxanthene

Description

National Research Centre, Dokki-Cario, Egypt

Received 13 March 1972

The action of triphenylphosphine and triisopropyl phosphite on 9-diazothioxanthene (I) was found to give different products depending upon the experimental conditions. 9-Chlorothioxanthene (VIIa) and 9-9-dichlorothioxanthene (VIIb) react with trialkyl phosphites to give the corresponding phosphonate derivatives VIIc-e and VIIg-i. Diphenylphosphinodithioic acid affects the conversion of VIIb  into thioxanthene-9- thione (IX).
