DESCRIPTION
Arbustes ou petits arbres ([1-]2-5[-8] m), parfois peu ramifiés. Limbes de dimensions moyennes à grandes. Inflorescences en panicule terminale, généralement sur des rameaux normaux, occasionnellement, au moins pour certaines espèces (T. minutum Mez, T. oblongifolium Mez) sur des rameaux latéraux spéciaux, 2-3 fois ramifiées, à axes finement scrobiculés-verruqueux. Fleurs pédicellées (pédicelles filiformes longs de 2-5 mm), relativement petites pour le genre (1,5-3 mm, 3-4 mm cependant dans T. amieuense M.Schmid, sp. nov.), de teinte blanchâtre à rose lilas sur le vivant. Styles filiformes, longs de 1,5-3 mm. Stigmates ponctiformes. Fruits globuleux de (3-)4- 6(-8) mm de diamètre.
Espèces croissant en forêt, principalement – pour plusieurs d’entre elles exclusivement – sur terrains siliceux.
