Spalacomimus liberianus (La Baume, 1911)

Material examined: 1 male [CH6977(SF)], NIGERIA, obtained from Timm Adam. First record for Nigeria.

Bioacoustics. Tegmina (Fig. 3), stridulatory file (Table 1), and spectrum of the song do not show large differences to the typical Hetrodini pattern. The calling song (Fig. 10D; after Kowalski & Lakes-Harlan 2013) consists of long series of syllables (song type B in Fig. 5). With a mean duration of the series of more than 3 minutes it comes close to a continuous trill (song type A).
