A number of 5-pyrazolone and 6-isoxazolone compounds have shown good fungicidal action against Helminthosporium oryzae. The phenyl group, cyclopropane ring, and 5-isoxazolone ring confer potency. Chemicals, which are quite effective against Pyricularia oryzae are less effective against Helminthosporium oryzae.
