Mass spectral fragmentation or Schiff bases derived from 2-hydroxy-5-methyl. benzaldehyde and arylamine-5 as well as benzylamine are reported. Six-centre H-transfer McLafferty rearrangement, HCN elimination from Mt ae well at from the other fragment. and formation or a benzlisoxazole cation are the common features of the mass speetra. Arylamines Schiff bases show M\(\pm \) as the base peaks while benzylamine Schiff base give m/e 91, tropylium ion, as tile base peak.
