This article discusses proverbs, sayings, aphorisms and other proverbs, as well as their transformants - new proverbs, provides a historical background on the appearance of proverbs and sayings, general and distinctive characteristics of all types of paremiological units. Particular attention is paid to the study of the proverbs transformant
