Synthesis and Antimicrobial Activity of Some New Isomeric Pyrano[2,3-f] and [3,2-f](1 ,4)-Benzoxazines

3-Aryl-8-methyl-6-oxo-2H,6H-pyrano[2,3-f[(1,4)-beazoxazine (lll) 3-aryl-5-methyl-7-oxo-2H,7H-pyrano[3,2-f](1,4)-benzoxazine (IV) derivatives have been synthesised by the reductive cyclisation or \(\mathcal{ortho}\)-nitro acetonyl phethers, I and II over palladium-carbon. An alternate route of synthesis of the above has been achieved by the condensation of \(\mathcal{ortho}\)-hydroxy amines V and VI with various \(\mathcal{w}\)-bromo acetophenones to improve the yields. All these compounds have been screened for their antibacterial and antifungal activities.
