Lohmannia parallela Berlese

Description

Lohmannia parallela Berlese, 1916

Lohmannia parallela Berlese, 1916a, pp. 176, 177.

The type of the species is no more present in the Berlese Collection, and the original description is not suited for identification. The few characters known are the pale colour, the resemblance to L. murcioides, the parallel borders of the notogaster, the long hairs, and the small measurements (0.450 X 0.210 mm). The sensillus was described in an indistinct manner; it has 17 "branches", but it is difficult to decide whether the structure is barbate or pectinate.

For the moment it is impossible to interpret Berlese's description; because of the similarity to L. murcioides, the species is classified here with the genus Lohmannia.

The types was collected in Italian Somaliland.
