Description

A major barrier to streamlining workflows throughout the research lifecycle is lack of interoperability between tools, preventing comprehensive collection and incorporation of research data and metadata into the research record captured during the active phase of research, and limiting the scope for passing this data and metadata on to data repositories, thus undermining FAIR data principles and reproducibility.

This example use case shows the new integration between a data planning tool (DMPTool), an electronic lab notebook (RSpace), and a data repository (Dataverse), and its use in an institutional environment (Harvard), and the research stakeholders involved in services support. Additionally, work is shared on progress towards a Harvard Data Commons that should provide the integrated technology behind the services that support the research data lifecycle.

Presented as part of the Open Source Community Call "Streamlining the research lifecycle and enhancing FAIR principles with interoperable tools" co-hosted by FORCE11, Dryad, and eLife on January 25, 2022.
