Authors/Creators

Description

Limnesia (Limnesia) patagonica Lundblad, 1941

Limnesia (Limnesia) patagonica Lundblad, 1941: 157, 1944: 148; Cook 1980: 93, 1988: 64; Rosso de Ferradás et al 1987: 117.

Remarks

Besch (1963a) synonymized Limnesia patagonica with L. minuscula minuscula Ribaga, but this was not followed by Cook (1980, 1988). The specimens from this study have separated first coxal plates, and their IVleg6 have six swimming setae. Therefore it is assigned to L. patagonica. Subspecies of L. minuscula with swimming setae on IVleg6 have fused first coxal plates. The specimens collected by Cook (1980) have 24 swimming setae on IVleg6.
