All enderleinellids are ectoparasites of Sciuridae (Durden & Musser 1994). Enderleinellus longiceps is a specific ectoparasite of Sciurus niger Linnaeus and S. carolinensis. Our collection represents a new state record, but this louse has been reported in the nearby states of Georgia and Tennessee (Kim et al. 1986; Durden et al. 1997).
