Arius falcarius africana var. Günther in Playfair & Günther, 1867: 114. Type locality: Pangani River, Tanzania. Syntypes: BMNH 1865.9.21.16, 1867.3.7.385 - 386, 1867.3.9.499.
Distribution: Eastern Africa.
Countries: Tanzania.
Habitat: Fresh and brackish waters.
