Description
Trissopelopia longimana (Staeger)
(Figs. 15–18)
Trissopelopia longimana (Staeger, 1839: 587) (as Tanypus); Fittkau (1962: 355–358, 361–364, Figs. 300–303). Trissopelopia oyabetrispinosa Sasa, Kawai et Ueno, 1988: 59 –60, Plate 20B. [Holotype 136: 092.] Syn. nov.
Sasa et al. (1988) listed "well developed pulvilli" and "poorly developed hind tibial comb" as diagnostic characters for Trissopelopia oyabetrispinosa. However, according to Murray and Fittkau (1989: 78), both characters are diagnostic for the genus Trissopelopia Kieffer. In Fittkau (1962: 359), T. oyabetrispinosa keys to T. longimana (Staeger), as it has dark brown thorax, indistinct vittae, abdominal tergites with anterior band, and AR = 2.02.
In their key to male Trissopelopia of the World, Cheng and Wang (2005b: 20) state in couplet 3 that the hind tibia of T. longimana has no "comb setae". According to Fittkau (1962: 357–358, Fig. 301), the hind tibial comb of T. longimana is composed of only three setae which are half as long as the width of the apex of tibia, and the comb thus can be difficult to observe. The hind tibial comb of T. oyabetrispinosa is the same as in T. longimana (Figs. 15–18).
