* Canthigaster capistrata (Lowe, 1839) —Macaronesian sharpnose puffer
Recorded from Madeira by Tortonese in Whitehead et al. (1986: 1342) and Shipp in Quéro et al. (1990: 1069) under the name Canthigaster rostrata (non Bloch, 1786). Taxonomic decision of Moura & Castro (2002: 39).
* Sphoeroides marmoratus (Lowe, 1838)—Guinean puffer
Recorded from Madeira by Tortonese in Whitehead et al. (1986: 1345) under the name Sphoeroides spengleri (non Bloch, 1792), and by Shipp in Quéro et al. (1990: 1071) under the actual name.
* Lagocephalus lagocephalus (Linnaeus, 1758) —Oceanic puffer
