Piscicola fasciata Kollar 1842

Description

Piscicola fasciata Kollar, 1842

Synonym: Cystobranchus fasciatus Brumpt, 1900 Habitats and status: Piscicola fasciata is a rare ectoparasitic species living most often on the catfish (Silurus glanis Linnaeus, 1758) (Neubert & Nesemann 1999). In the Czech Republic it was reported only once from the lower Dyje (Thaya) River (Lucký & Dyk 1964). During their survey, P. fasciata was found frequently on catfish in spring period. This species is hence supposed to live in the Czech Republic, although by the sampling method used it was not collected recently (1998 through 2008).
