Polyzonus fupingensis Xie & Wang, sp. nov.

Male: Form moderately small, Length: 13.5 mm; humeral width: 3 mm. Body dark blue-black, elongate, slender, noticeably narrow. Head, scape, prothorax and elytral base bluish-green, with a slight metallic luster. Labial palpus yellowish. Antennae brown-black. Elytron: three yellow stripes, a large and distinct yellow patch at basal quarter reaching the suture, away from outer margin; another small yellow spot at basal quarter near outer margin, inconspicuous; a narrow, triangular, transverse band at apical third, broad and bright reaching outer margin, gradually narrowing to suture, color also tending to diminish. Legs blue-black, underside of tarsi covered with canary yellow pubescence. Underside densely covered with very short silver-gray pubescence.

Head relatively long, eyes large, upper eye lobes relatively small, away from each other, lower eye lobes longer than genae. Mandibles long, sturdy, labrum trapeziform, frons quite longer than width, several irregular transverse plicae at middle, other area rugulose-punctate, a fine central longitudinal sulcus between eyes. Antennae slightly longer than body, scape with shallow punctation. Pronotum slightly longer than wide, coarsely punctate-rugulose, anterior and posterior margins without a transverse sulcus, lateral tubercles short and obtuse. Anterior undersides of head and prothorax with transverse plicae. Scutellum triangular. Elytra long, with subparallel sides and minute punctation, apices rounded. Hind femora relatively long, not reaching apex of elytra, the first tarsus of hind legs longer than the following two sections. Abdomen with six visible sternites, posterior margins of the fifth sternites distinctly concave, the paratelum surpassing apices of elytra.

Female: unknown.

Type material. Holotype, male, CHINA: Baishishan, Fuping County, Hebei Province, 22 August, 2007, Xin-jing Li.

Type depository. The holotype is deposited in the Museum of Hebei University, Baodin City, Hebei Province, P. R. China.

Etymology. The new species is named after the place of collection, Fuping Country.

Diagnosis. The new species resembles P. fasciatus (Fabricius) but can be distinguished by its rougher elytra, with the narrow, faint, triangular posterior bands and underside with more short silver-gray pubescence. The new species also resembles P. subobtusus Pic but can be distinguished from that species by its body being dark blue-black not metallic green, each elytron with three yellow patches (rather than two) reaching suture, posterior band triangular, and pronotum without transverse plicae.
