Lixus operculifer Petri, 1904: 73
Current status: Lixus operculifer Petri, 1904 is a junior synonym of L. scolopax Boheman, 1835.
Type. In Reitter’s collection at HNHM, is a pinned female fitting the description with type locality as Caucasus and bearing the labels: “Caucasus, Araxesthal, Leder.Reitter” printed, “ L. operculifer n. sp. ” handwritten, “Monotypus, 1904, Lixus operculifer Petri, Ƥ ” red brimmed museum label, and “ Lixus scolopax Boh., Gültekin det. 2008”. It is the holotype of Lixus operculifer.
Remarks. Examination of the holotype show that Lixus operculifer is conspecific with Lixus scolopax Boheman. Thus, the following new synonymy is proposed here: Lixus scolopax Boheman, 1835 [= Lixus operculifer Petri, 1904 syn. n.].
