Antennae with 19 to 23 articles in adults (4 antennae with 19 articles, 14 with 20, 9 with 21, 2 with 22, and 2 with 23), and with 20 or 21 articles in juveniles (2 antennae with 20 articles, 2 with 21). The bacilliform sensillum of the third article is between macrochaetae b and c (in a dorsal position) with the exception of the Zigana Pass and Camiçi specimens, where the sensillum appears in a ventral position (between macrochaetae d and e). The epicuticle shows microdenticles on the thorax and abdominal tergal sclerites.

C. plusiochaeta is widespread in the Holarctic region, but it may be a complex of very similar species (Condé 1953a; Sendra and Moreno 2004). Populations of C. plusiochaeta have been found in scattered locations throughout northern and southern Anatolia.
