Genus Arrenurus Dugès, 1834

Arrenurus (Arrenurus) iranicus Smit & Peši ć sp. nov. (Figs. 6–7)

Type material. Holotype male, White spring 1, Seistan Province, S of Saghuyeh village, Sarchahan zone, Bavanat city, Iran, 07.ix.2008, leg. S. Bayat (ZMAN). Paratypes: one female, same data as holotype (ZMAN).

Diagnosis. Male: Petiole with a long, die-shaped ligulate process, extending well beyond posterior margin of petiole; petiole posteriorly with a pointed hyaline extension. Female: Medial margins of third and fourth coxal plates of equal length, genital plates short and strongly sloping; gonopore with sclerotized patches, anterior patch triangular, posterior patch a narrow strip.

Description. Male: Idiosoma L 1166, W 867, yellowish, anterior margin more or less straight. Dorsal shield W 551. Cauda short, pygal lobes short and blunt, hyaline membrane trapezoid. Cx-I extending to anterior idiosoma margin. Medial margin of Cx-IV much longer than medial margin of Cx-III. Petiole with convex lateral margins, posterior margin slightly concave. Ligulate process die-shaped, long, extending well beyond posterior margin of petiole. Petiole posteriorly with a hyline, two-pointed extension. Gonopore L 81, genital field W 518. Genital plates almost three times as long as wide, not extending to lateral idiosoma margin. Palp: total L 376, dL: P-1, 44; P-2, 102; P-3, 70; P-4, 104; P-5, 56; P-2 medially with four setae in posteroventral corner. L of I-L-4-6: 170, 146, 162; L of IV-L-4-6: 243, 138, 174; IV-L-4 with a long spur. Second, third and fourth legs with numerous swimming setae.

Female: Idiosoma L 1337, W 1126, yellowish, anterior margin convex. Dorsal shield complete, L 1004, W 810. Cx-I not extending to anterior idiosoma margin. Medial margins of Cx-III and - IV of equal length. Cx-IV almost without posteromedial corner. Medial distance of Cx-IV slightly shorter that width of one genital valve.

Posterolateral corners of idiosoma almost absent. Genital field W 575, gonopore L/W 170/180. Genital plates short, posterior margin straight of convex, strongly sloping. Gonopore with sclerotized patches, anterior patch triangular, posterior patch a narrow strip. Palp: total L 393, dL: P-1, 48; P-2, 98; P-3, 76; P-4, 112; P-5, 59; P-2 medially with five setae, three setae in anteroventral corner of segment and the two other setae located more dorsally. L of I-L-4-6: 162, 170, 121; L of IV-L-4-6: 186, 146, 170. Second, third and fourth legs with numerous swimming setae.

Etymology. Named for the country where the species has been collected.

Remarks. The new species belongs to a group of Oriental Arrenurus species with a complex petiole. It is most close to A. beschi Lundblad, 1969. The latter species has also a ligulate process which extends well beyond the posterior idiosoma margin, but lacks the hyaline extension while the hyaline membrane and the anterior idiosoma margin are concave (see: Lundblad 1969).

Distribution. Iran (Seistan province).

Arrenurus (Arrenurus) kermanensis Peši ć, Smit & Asadi sp. nov. (Figs. 8–10)

Type material. Holotype male: Iran, Kerman Province, Khabr near Baft city, pool, leg. Asadi (ZMAN). Paratype: one female, same data as holotype (ZMAN).

Diagnosis. Male: Petiole long, posteriorly with a deep indentation; ligulate process elongate tear-drop-shaped, extending slightly beyond posterior margin of petiole; petiole posteriorly with a hyaline extension consisting of two parts, giving the petiole a butterfly nut-shaped appearance. Female: Medial margins of third and fourth coxal plates more or less of equal length; gonopore valves with sclerotized patches, lateral margins of these patches concave.

Description. Male: Idiosoma L 925, W 763, yellowish, anterior margin convex. Cauda short, pygal lobes blunt, hyaline membrane trapezoid and posterior margin slightly concave. Male not completely sclerotized, and dorsal shield therefore not complete. Petiole long, posteriorly with a deep indentation. Ligulate process elongate tear-drop-shaped, extending slightly beyond posterior margin of petiole. Petiole posteriorly with a hyaline extension consisting of two parts, giving the petiole a butterfly nut-shaped appearance, ventrally with grooves. Medial margin of Cx-IV much larger than medial margin of Cx-III. Gonopore L 90, genital plates narrow and extending to lateral idiosoma margin. Palp (Fig. 9C): total L 406, dL: P-1, 42; P-2, 108; P-3, 77; P-4, 119; P-5, 60; P-2 medially with six setae, P-4 stocky. L of I-L-4-6: 177, 173, 204; L of IV-L-4-6: 325, 138, 219; IV-L-4 with spur. Second, third and fourth legs with numerous swimming setae.

Female: Idiosoma L 1094, W 975, yellowish, anterior margin convex. Dorsal shield not complete. First coxal plates extending beyond anterior idiosoma margin. Medial margins of Cx-III and - IV more or less of equal length. Cx-IV without distinct posteromedial corners. Genital field W 619, gonopore L/W 153/163. Gonopore valves with sclerotized patches, lateral margins of these patches concave (Fig. 10). Genital plates slightly bowed, two times as long as wide, sloping posteriorly. Palp: total L 396, dL: P-1, 35; P-2, 106; P-3, 75; P-4, 120; P-5, 60; P-2 medially with five setae, P-4 stocky. L of I-L-5-6: 157, 173; L of IV-L-4-6: 220, 209, 223. Second, third and fourth legs with numerous swimming setae.

Etymology. Named for the province where the species has been collected.

Remarks. The petiole of the new species is very distinctive and will separate it from all other Arrenurus species.
