Camaegeria exochiformis Walker 1856, n

Description

Camaegeria exochiformis Walker, 1856 n. comb.

Fig. 10

Aegeria exochiformis Walker, 1856: 58. Holotype Ƥ (Fig. 10): Sierra Leone (BMNH).

Hampson 1919: 62 (Synanthedon); Dalla Torre & Strand 1925: 23 (Synanthedon); Gaede 1929: 522 (Synanthedon); Heppner & Duckworth 1981: 31 (Synanthedon); Pühringer & Kallies 2004: 28 (Synanthedon).

Remarks. The holotype of Aegeria exochiformis is a badly damaged and nearly completely de-scaled female and not a male as mentioned in the original description. It is here transferred to Camaegeria based on the typical shape of body and wings, the smooth-scaled labial palp and the frons with white adjacent to the eye. Another taxon from Sierra Leone, C. monogama, might be conspecific with C. exochiformis (see above).
