Type locality. Gulf of Mexico, Texas, Sabine Pass.

Description. See Felder & Rabalais (1986).

Remarks. Speocarcinus lobatus was described in great detail by Felder & Rabalais (1986). It mostly resembles young S. carolinensis and for the distinction between these species see under S. carolinensis.

Distribution. Off Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas and the Gulf coast of Florida, between 6 and 65 m.
