Type locality. WC, Cape Peninsula, ‘in neighbourhood of Cape Town’… ‘in and under loose clods of dead sedges on edge of water’ (Beddard 1897: 336 & 339).
Distribution. Species known from twenty localities, (30 samples from variable biotopes). All from the Cape Peninsula and its close vicinity. Recorded as ‘ falcatus ’ from Cape Flats area – few samples; as A. arenarius: ‘in wet sand under stones… at the beginning of the sand-dunes, east from Wynberg station’; as E. arundinis from Cape Flats area: Ronde Vlei near Zeekoe Vlei and Retreat Station; Wynberg Station; Lakeside Vlei; Muizenberg Flats; Riet Farm. Fish Hoek. Hout Bay valley. Hout Bay near Louw's Farm. Alderman's Farm. Firgrove, near Somerset West.
