Allocreadium pichi

Description

Allocreadium pichi Flores, Brugni & Ostrowski de Núñez, 2004

Type host. Galaxias maculatus (Jenyns) (Pisces: Galaxiidae).

Site of infection. Intestine.

Type locality. Argentina, Río Negro Province, Lago Moreno (41º06ʹS, 71º32ʹW).

Paratypes: MLP 5301, MLP 5302 (2 specimens).

Remarks. Holotype and two paratypes deposited in the Colección Nacional de Parasitología in the Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales Bernardino Rivadavia, Buenos Aires, Argentina; sixteen paratypes and two sets of serial sections deposited in the Colección Parasitológica del Centro Regional Universitario Bariloche, Universidad Nacional del Comahue, San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina; two paratypes deposited in the British Museum (Natural History) Collections of The Natural History Museum, London, UK. Curran et al. (2006) considered this a second species in the yet unnamed Creptotrema –like genus, and Viozzi et al. (2009) maintain it in the original genus until new taxonomic and molecular comparisons are done.
