Description

6. Pacificulla kekamatana Park, sp. nov.

(Figs. 12, 25, 30, 38, 38 a)

Holotype. Ƥ, Papua, Indonesia, Kekamatan Oksibill, Mabilabol 1340 m, 4°54ʹS,140°37ʹE, 21−25 II 2005, Montane Forest, UNCEN-ZMA Expedition, Papua Indonesia 2005, gen. prep. no. CIS-6039/Park. Paratype. 1Ƥ, same data as the holotype.

Diagnosis. The species is distinguished superficially from its congeners by the forewing with yellowish ground color; with well-developed dark-brown fascia, extending broadly from base to 2/3 length along the costa, narrowing towards costa; and with a dark-brown subterminal line arising from beyond 3/4 of costa and terminated before tornus.

Description. Adult (Figs. 12, 25, 30). Wingspan 19−20 mm. Head: Dark brown dorsally; face dark brown. Antenna with slender basal segment, thickened towards apex, dark brown; flagellum dark brown throughout. Labial palpus with second segment slender, dark brown all around; third segment about 2/3 length of second. Thorax: Tegula and thorax dark brown. Forewing elongate, slightly dilated distally; basal dark brown fascia, running narrowly towards costa, extending to 3/4 length of costa, with irregular lower margin; remain part yellowish orange, except terminal dark-brown fascia; discal spot dark brown, round, edged lower margin of basal fascia; dark brown subterminal line arising from beyond 3/4 on costa and terminated near tornus, followed by yellowish-orange narrow band; terminal fascia dark brown; apex rounded; termen slightly oblique; fringe concolorous, with orange-white basal line; venation with R1 arising before middle of cell; R2 approximate; R3 and R4 stalked before middle; R5 absent; M1 remote; M2 absent; CuA1 and CuA2 short-stalked at basal 1/10. Hindwing slightly broader than forewing, with dark brown basal fascia; median patch yellowish orange, with outer margin irregularly serrated; terminal fascia dark brown; apex more or less round; termen slightly; fringe concolorous, with orange white basal line; venation with Rs approximate to M1; M3 and CuA1 connate; CuA2 arising from basal 1/3 of cell. Hind tibia clothed with orange white scales dorsally, except brownish in basal 1/4; apex with orange white scales. Abdomen: yellowish orange on the first to fourth segments and then dark fuscous beyond.

Male genitalia unknown.

Female genitalia (Figs 38, 38 a) with abdominal sternite VIII weakly sclerotized, emarginated at middle on caudal margin. Antrum funnel-shaped, heavily sclerotized. Ductus bursae 2 times length of corpus bursae; posterior 2/5 length weakly sclerotized, broader; anterior 3/5 length membranous, wrinkled, coiled 2 revolutions; ductus seminalis narrow, arising from middle of posterior part. Corpus bursae ovate, finely scobinate; signum rounded, with crescent sclerotized upper portion.

Distribution. Indonesia (Papua).

Etymology. The species name is derived from the type locality.

Remarks. The male of this new species is unknown, but there is little doubt that this species belongs to this genus due to the wing color pattern and venation.
