Remarks. The new species is unique in the genus Neophyllobius by having a single pdx seta, but it does resemble N. turcicus Koç & Ayyildiz, 1996 in having the same lengths of some dorsal setae. However, it also differs from N. turcicus by: (1) setae vi 59, pdx 75 long in new species opposed to vi 73, pdx 57 in N. turcicus, and 2) tarsi I–II with 9(1)-9(1) in N. ostovani whereas 10(1)-10(1) in N. turcicus.

Etymology. This species is named in honor of Prof. Hadi. Ostovan, Head of the Department of Entomology, Islamic Azad University, Science and Research Branch, Fars, Iran.

Type materials. Holotype female and two paratypes male from soil and rotten leaves of oak trees, Sorkhi region, Koohmare, Fars province, (29° 29' 26'' N, 52° 11' 1'' E, 1636 m a.s.l.); 8 Nov. 2011; coll. Shima Yazdanpanah. The type materials are slide mounted specimens. The holotype female and one paratype male deposited in the Acari collection of the Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bu– Ali Sina, Hamedan, Iran and one paratype male will be deposited in the Arachnida Collection of ARC –Plant Protection Research Institute, Pretoria, South Africa.
