Distribution. Widely distributed Palaearctic species (see Bartolozzi & Sprecher-Uebersax 2006).

Distribution in Iran. Golestan, Guilan, Khorasan, Mazandaran (Král 2004; Sakenin et al. 2008), West Azerbaijan (Sakenin et al. 2008), Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari, East Azerbaijan, Fars, Hamadan, Ilam, Isfahan, Kerman, Semnan, Tehran (new records).

Remarks. We consider Dorcus parallelipipedus reichei to be a synonym of Dorcus parallelipipedus, as in Bartolozzi & Sprecher-Uebersax (2006).

Quoted host plants in Iran are Ficus carica (Moraceae) and Ulmus campestris (Ulmaceae) (Sakenin et al. 2008).
