Description

Syndicus (s. str.) puncticollis Jałoszyński

Syndicus (s. str.) puncticollis Jałoszyński, 2004: 58, Figs. 16 D, 22C, 24A–B, 27E.

Material studied: MYANMAR: 2 ♂, "Carin Chebà", 900– 100 m, V–XII 1888, leg. L. Fea (MSNG).

Description of male. Externally (Fig. 2) differs from female (described by Jałoszyński (2004: 58)) in slightly expanded ventrally metafemoral clava bearing long and erect setae (Fig. 4). BL 3.28–3.50 mm; HL 0.50–0.53 mm, HW 0.75–0.78 mm, AnL 2.25–2.38 mm; PL 1.00– 1.10 mm, PWb 0.50–0.60 mm, PWm 0.75–0.83 mm; EL 1.78–1.88 mm, EW 1.25–1.28 mm, EI 1.42–1.47.

Aedeagus (Figs. 11–12, 18–20) elongate; AeL 0.65 mm; in ventral view internal armature with slightly asymmetrical subapical part, with short central complex containing small darkly sclerotized and broadly separated halves, distal vesicle nearly as broad as central complex, proximal vesicle much narrower; parameres with extremely tiny setae along mesal margins (Fig. 20).

Distribution (Fig. 27). Previously known only from a single female collected in northern Thailand (Chiang Mai Province), hereby recorded for the first time from the Karen Hills in Central Myanmar.
