Description
Family Moinidae Goulden, 1968
Moina macrophtalma Stingelin, 1913. Recorded by Stingelin (1913) in Colombia. This species is considered among synonyms of Moina micrura (Kotov et al. 2013a), but if known populations from the Neotropics will be regarded as belonging to a separate species, one of them could be M. macrophthalma.
37. Moina reticulata (Daday, 1905). Recorded by Aranguren-Riaño et al. (2011) and Fuentes-Reinés et al. (2012, fig 17). It is considered a Neotropical species (Paggi 1973; Kotov et al. 2013a), while populations from Africa (Lamoot & Dumont 1974) probably belong to a separate, yet undescribed species. In Colombia, it has been reported from the Amazon and Caribbean regions.
38. Moinodaphnia macleayi Herrick, 1887. Recorded by Pearse (1916); Barón-Rodríguez et al. (2006); Aranguren-Riaño et al. (2011); Brehm (1956); Gaviria (2001); Fuentes-Reinés et al. (2012, fig 15) and Fuentes- Reinés (2014a). It is widely distributed in the tropics and subtropics of the Old and New World, penetrating into non-tropical areas of Asia and North America (Goulden 1968). In Colombia, it has been reported from the Andean, Amazon and Caribbean regions. The genus needs to be revised worldwide.
