Diagnosis. Chimoptesis mitrion is very closely related to C. cornigera as its female genitalia and facies demonstrate, but C. mitrion has a longer dorsobasal blotch of the forewing, a flatter posterior part of the sterigma, broader folds of the subgenital sternite, and larger signa.
Description. Wing span 19 mm. Male: Unknown. Female: Head and thorax white-grey, thorax with browngrey marks. Forewing termen weakly oblique, somewhat concave. Ground colour white, more brownish grey in distal area; costal strigulae fine; divisions brown; silver markings in median area and at ocellus. Markings blackbrown; black blotch reaching mid-dorsum; median fascia interrupted, slender. Cilia brownish grey, browner at apex, whitish at tornus. Hindwing cream mixed brownish beyond middle; cilia whitish. Genitalia (Fig. 24) with posterior part of sterigma fairly short, rounded; sclerite of antrum uniformly broad; folds of subgenital sterite very broad, reaching its lateroproximal corners; cingulum moderately large; signa long.

Etymology. The name refers to the shape of the posterior part of the sterigma; Greek: mitrion—a small cap.
