Poems that sound like the voice of the voiceless - 'Viralkalil Vazhiyum Kuralatravanin Shenkuruthi'

Authors/Creators

Description

Absract

The literary genre of renewal poetry has evolved through various theoretical and political processes from the European colonial period to the present day post-colonial period. These include revolting against forms of feudal, imperialist, religious and caste power, echoing the dictatorships of the bourgeoisie and its allies, talking about the archeological biographies of the land, tying the traditions of power and moving towards balanced traditions. Thus, Cholaimayavan's collection of poems, ‘Viralkalil Vazhiyum Kuralatravanin Senkuruthi’ speaks to the politics of power that pervades land, habitat and social status.
