Description

Key to the species of Montesinus gen. nov.

1. Body surface opaque. Smaller species, females ≈ 15 mm in length. Ocular canthi of males triangular. Male mandibles with basal internal tooth elongate and cylindrical with acute apex. Elytral punctures distinct, deep and with an internal wall................................................................................... Montesinus monnei sp. nov.

1’. Body surface shiny. Larger species, females more than 15 mm. Males unknown. Elytral punctures shallow.............. 2

2(1’). Dark brown/piceous species; maxillae without hooklets. Pronotal posterior margin uniform. Elytral punctures everywhere not distinct, weakly marked. Mesotibiae with 1–2 spines..................................... Montesinus tatula sp. nov.

2’. Black species. Maxillae with 1 hooklet on galea. Pronotal posterior margin with a small concavity at middle. Elytral punctures more distinct on disc. Mesotibiae with more than 2 spines............................ Montesinus machadoi sp. nov.
