Cyphanus dubius Broun 1893: 1139. Pic 1914: 15 (catalogue). Macfarlane et al. 2011: 420 (catalogue).
Type locality. Waitakerei [sic, Waitakere] Range.
Broun number: 2020.
Type material examined. 1 ex. Syntype (NHM): card-mounted, “ Cyphanus \ dubius.” [in Broun’s hand], New Zealand. [red underline] \ Broun Coll. \ Brit. Mus. \ 1922-482.”, “Waitakerei” [in Broun’s hand], “2020.” [in Broun’s hand].
Remarks. Broun (1893) did not mention number of specimens studied. The species was found in the Waitakerei Range and in the vicinity of Howick (Broun 1893).
