Diatrichalus robustus sp. n.

Type material. Holotype, male, Indonesia, Papua, Elelim, km 5 road to Apalapsili, 580 m, 03° 49´S; 139° 22´E (BM0191; LMBC).

Paratype, female, same locality data as the holotype (BM0190; LMBC).

Diagnosis. D. robustus sp. n. resembles D. mindikensis sp. n. in the blue metallic shine of elytra, but the two species differ in the straight position of the apex in D. mindikensis sp. n. and dorsally directed apex in D. robustus sp. n. Hereafter, D. robustus sp. n. has well-developed secondary costae in contrast with D. mindikensis sp. n., whose elytra have only primary costae present and secondary costae are completely missing (Figs 4–5).

Description. Male. Body medium-sized, robust. Pronotum and elytra uniformly black with blue metallic shine especially on elytra (Fig. 5). Head small, eyes prominent, moderately large, interocular distance 1.12 times longer than maximum eye diameter. Antennae compressed, antennomeres 3–10 serrate, wide. Pronotum trapezoidal, 1.67 times wider than long at midline, lateral margins elevated with distinct protuberance in basal third, median areola well-developed with weak lateral carinae present. Elytra 3.27 times longer than width at humeri, with robust primary costae, costa 1 reaching one seventh of elytral length, secondary costae weak, cells irregular, mostly rectangular. Phallus robust, well-sclerotized, with prominent apical process, and with medium-sized ventral hook; phallobase missing available specimen (Figs 13–14).

Measurements. BL 9.7 mm, WH 2.32 mm, PL 1.10 mm, PW 1.83 mm, Edist 0.62 mm, Ediam 0.56 mm.

Etymology. The species is named according to its short and robust phallus.

Distribution. New Guinea, known only from the type locality.
