Cladophorus motykai sp. nov.

Type material. Holotype. Male, Papua New Guinea, Crater Mt., Haia, 06°44´S 145°00.1´E, 750–920 m (A00165, LMBC); Paratypes, 2 males, same locality data (A00163, 166, LMBC).

Diagnosis. C. motykai is one of the polymorphic species. The light form resembles C. craterensis in uniform yellow elytra (Fig. 44), the dark form has most of the elytra dark brown and only humeral third is light brown. The colour pattern resembles C. wasiorensis (Fig. 45). C. motykai has characteristically slender phallus (Figs. 69, 70).

Description. Male. Body medium-sized, 12.3–12.5 mm long, body dark brown to black, pronotum and humeral third of elytra light brown, apical two thirds of elytra dark brown to black, transition between light and black parts of elytra gradual, unclear (Figs. 28, 45). Head small, with small, hemispherically prominent eyes, frontal interocular distance 1.7 times maximum diameter; antennae flabellate, long, reaching behind middle of elytral length, antennomere 3 with lamella 4.7 times longer than stem of antennomere, lamella attached to apical part of antennomere (Fig. 154). Pronotum transverse, 1.3 times wider than long at midline, lateral margins apparently elevated, frontal margin slightly projected, frontal angles well marked, lateral margins slightly convex, posterior angles projected, all carinae well-developed (Fig. 28). Elytra flat, slightly widened posteriorly, transverse costae well-developed, regular, elytral areoles transverse (Fig. 45). Phallus slender, parallel-sided, with short slender apical part (Figs. 69–70).

Measurements. BL 12.3–12.5 mm, PL 1.65–1.70 mm, PW 2.10–2.20 mm, WH 1.45–1.50 mm, Edist 0.96 mm, Ediam 0.55 mm, LE 10.1–10.3 mm, stem 0.75 mm, lamella 3.55 mm.

Distribution. Eastern New Guinea, Chimbu province (Fig. 3).

Etymology. The species name is a patronym in honor of Michal Motyka (Olomouc).
