Type locality: Nigeria: Old Calabar (HT); BMNH.

Smodicum ebeninum parumcostatum Lepesme, 1948a: 258.

Type locality: Gabon (HT); IRSNB.

Afrosmodicum ebeninum Martins, 1975: 329, figs 15–18 (Syn., comb. n.). Distribution: India, Old Calabar, Gabon, Nigeria, Zaire: Katanga, Kasai & Cameroun.
