Rhodium(I) carbonyl complexes of the type trans-[RhCl(CO)(R2SO/R2S)2], where R2SO=di-n-propyl sulphoxide (n-Pr2SO), di-n-butyl sulphoxide (n-Bu2SO) ; R2S= dimethyl sulphide (Me2S), di-isopropyl sulphide (i-Pr2S), undergo oxidative addition reactions with small covalent molecules (YZ) forming the adducts [RhClYZ(CO)- (R2SO/R2S)2], where YZ =Cl2 Br2 I2, 1Cl and tetracyanoethylene (TCNE). With CH2I, rhodium(I) compounds form a mixture of six- and five-coordinate acetyl derivatives. During oxidation, R2SO ligands undergo isomeric rearrangement forming metal - oxygen bonded R2SO complexes.
