Description
Tephritis matricariae (Loew, 1844)
Trypeta matricariae Loew, 1844: 389. Syntypes. Greece (Greek Is. & Rhodus [= Rhodes]) & Turkey (Kleinasien [= Asia Minor]) (ZMHB).
Distribution. PA: Austria & Balkans S to Mediterranean, Egypt, Netherlands, Turkey.
Egyptian localities. Coastal Strip: Burg, Mariout. Eastern Desert: Wadi Zohleiga. Lower Nile Valley and Delta:
Cairo and neighborhood. Sinai.
Host plants. Flower heads of European hawkweed H. lactucella Wallr.) and mouse-ear hawkweed (Hieracium
pilosella L.). Source: Merz (1994).
Dates of collection. January to April.
