Sorex salvini group

Members of the Sorex salvini group can be distinguished from other members of the genus Sorex in NCA by possessing a postmandibular foramen and canal, U3 is usually taller than U4, there is no pigmented ridge on the lingual side of the unicuspid teeth. In general, all species in this group are more brownish in dorsal color of pelage than the Sorex veraepacis group. The Sorex salvini species group consists of five species: S. cristobalensis, S. salvini, S. sclateri, S. stizodon, and the new species from Honduras.
