Description
23. Simulium (Gomphostilbia) longitruncum Takaoka & Davies, 1995
Simulium (Gomphostilbia) longitruncum Takaoka & Davies, 1995: 65 –70 (Female, male, pupa and larva).
This species was described from females, males, pupae and larvae collected from Fraser’s Hill (Takaoka and Davies, 1995). An additional pupa, from which a female emerged, was collected from a stream (3–5 m wide, 1,315 m in elevation) in Simpang Pulai, Pahang.
It is characterized in both female and male by the yellow tuft hair of the base of the radial vein (usually tuft hair is dark in this species-group), in the female by the small sensory vesicle, and in the pupa by the long common basal stalk, which is longer than the interspiracular trunk.
